Montgomery County Area Technology Center is a feeder school to Montgomery County High School. Students from MCHS, along with surrounding counties, have the opportunity to register for classes at MCATC. Over five hundred students are currently enrolled at Montgomery County ATC.

Montgomery County ATC is located in the city of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. The population of Mt. Sterling is approximately 7,051. Montgomery County has an approximate population of 20,586. Mt. Sterling is located 30 miles east of Lexington on Interstate 64. It is best known for the Recreation Bowl, the largest and oldest football game in Kentucky; and Mt. Sterling Court Days, a large flea market that has been a tradition since the late 1800’s. Historically, Mt. Sterling is known for its undisturbed Adena Indian burial sites. These protected mounds are found in several locations throughout the county.

Chapter #5341 at Montgomery County ATC was first activated in 1971 and was continually active until 1984. The original chapter advisors included: Mrs. Lynn (Horn) Bellamy, Mrs. Norma Willoughby, and Mrs. Ruth Hilliard. Due to block scheduling, there were two sets of officers.

Montgomery County ATC’s Chapter #5341 was reactivated in June 1987. The students became acquainted with FBLA through Mrs. Ronda Evans Bowles when she joined the teaching staff in February 1987. In order to attend the FBLA Leadership Training Camp in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, the seven FBLA officers raised money by sponsoring a softball tournament and a concession stand at the county fair. The summer workshop was very helpful for the new advisor and the new officers. Attendance at the workshop helped to provide the foundation for the success of a great year to follow.

The American Enterprise Project was put into place by Edward D. Miller. Today the Edward D. Miller Award is given to the FBLA local chapter that develops the best informational/educational program within the school system or the community that increases the knowledge and understanding of the American enterprise.
