Competition

What Is Competition?

Competition is a great way to get involved in your chapter and it allows you to test your business knowledge and skills against other FBLA members.

There are a large variety of competition topics ranging from accounting, public speaking, and even computer applications, so there is sure to be one that interests you.

The FBLA-PBL National Awards Program recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas.

Competitive events fall into three categories: individual, team, and chapter. Individual and team events mainly focus on the leadership and career skills needed, while chapter events recognize achievements for the chapter as a whole.

There are three levels of competition. Regional, State, and Nationals. At regionals students compete against other students in their region and the top winners are eligible to compete at the State level. At the State Leadership Conferences, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference each summer.

How to Prepare

The best way for students to prepare for FBLA's competitive events is the KY FBLA Competitive Events Guidelines found under guidelines. This comprehensive resource includes event guidelines and rating sheets. Make sure you are using the most recent version of the guidelines (see below) to prepare for your competition.
